Moles, cysts, lipomas, skin cancers and a variety of other lesions may benefit from plastic surgical excision and closure to minimize visible scarring. Sun-exposed areas on the face, chest and extremities are the most common locations. Scars are aligned whenever possible along natural skin creases, and closure is accomplished in layers under magnification using meticulous technique and buried sutures to prevent suture marks. Most procedures are performed in the office under local anesthesia.
