Facial trauma sustained during a fall or other accident frequently results in a skin laceration that may benefit from plastic surgical repair. Depending on the age of a child or any other associated injuries, an initial visit to the Emergency Room may be most appropriate. The ER staff can tend to most wounds, but deeper or more complex lacerations, especially near specialized areas such as the eyes, ears and lips may benefit from referral for plastic surgical evaluation and repair.
